Frequently Asked Questions

What is an independent bottler?

An independent bottler selects casks from different producers, bottles them under their own brand, and markets them. Unlike a brand that distills itself, we seek the finest expressions of a terroir from those who know how to produce them.

What does "cask strength" mean?

"Cask strength" means that the spirit is bottled at the natural proof it reached upon leaving the cask, without dilution with water. This generally results in stronger spirits (47-55%) but infinitely more expressive ones.

Why are your bottles numbered?

Each cask we select yields a finite number of bottles (between 60 and 270 depending on the batch). Each bottle is hand-numbered to attest to its uniqueness and traceability.

How should I store my bottles?

Spirits should be stored upright (unlike wine), away from direct light and at a stable temperature (15-20°C ideally). An unopened bottle can be kept for several decades. Once opened, consume within 6 to 12 months.

Which glass for which tasting?

Prefer a tulip glass (Glencairn type) which concentrates the aromas. Avoid classic brandy snifters which disperse the alcoholic fumes. Serve at room temperature (18-20°C). Air for 10 minutes before tasting to allow the ethanol to evaporate slightly.
